The achievement of every single learner is what matters to us

OutstandingLogo11-12_90pxLinton Village College is a co-educational comprehensive community academy, taking students between the ages of 11 and 16.  There are over 800 students on roll.  We are committed to maintaining a stimulating and lively learning environment: a place in which people can flourish.  We offer the widest possible range of subjects and cater for varied interests. As a Village College we are at the heart of our local community providing leisure and learning activities to young and old throughout the week.  Our links with schools in many parts of the world ensure that we are outward-looking in our perspective.

Linton Village College is an outstanding school in Cambridgeshire.  Our most recent Ofsted report in May 2012 concluded that LVC offers 'an outstanding all-round education' and rated the college as outstanding in every category. Inspectors praised the curriculum and activities on offer, the quality of teaching, the pastoral care we provide and the exceptional standards that our students achieve in national examinations. In 2012 a record 92 per cent of students achieved at least five A* to C grades at GCSE.

Earn your child an extra 600 pounds

Just before Christmas, the government released the news that pupil premium funding that only comes in to school for those claiming entitlement to free school meals, is increasing from £430 to £600 per pupil. The census day for this extra funding is 17 January.

We do know that Linton Village College is missing out on this extra funding to pay for better books and facilities for children because many of our parents who are entitled to claim for free school meals are not yet claiming. If you claim for the benefit and are eligible there are clearly gains for all concerned: £600 extra to spend on your child, for example! That’s a laptop! In these tough financial times, we need to get all the help we can. In order to claim, follow this link http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals or give Mr Farr in the Student Support Team a ring (01223 891233 ext 185) or email him (ian.farr@lvc.org) and he can arrange to get you some help to make the claim. We can even do it with you from school.
If your child is eligible for a free school meal but doesn’t want to eat a hot meal at lunchtime, our canteen can provide a packed lunch instead which can be collected at break or lunchtime.
